Resources for Learning at Home
Reading Resources
Remember, the most important thing your student can be doing at this time is reading everyday! If you are running out of new reading material at home, here are some FREE online resources you may want to try for reading or listening to stories. All of these can be accessed on a computer, laptop, tablet, or even on your phone!
Sno-Isle library Online
https://www.sno-isle.org/online
The libraries are closed but many audiobooks can be checked out online! You need a sno-isle library card to access.
Junior Library Guild
https://jlg.ipublishcentral.com/bookshelf
For free access use the following login information:
Username: JLGELM
Password: JLGFREE.
I like the phone/tablet view for reading stories, you can also download their app called JLGBooks.
Audible
https://stories.audible.com/start-listen or download the app on your phone
This is a site for downloading and listening to audiobooks. They are an Amazon company, so if you already have an Amazon Prime account you can access Audible without having to create a new account. No account is needed to listen to children's stories, and all children’s stories are free throughout the school closure!
Storyline Online
https://www.storylineonline.net/
This is a fun site. Actors read aloud picture books. The pictures and words are also shown so students can follow along. First graders love listening to read alouds and it’s a great way to learn to read with appropriate expression and rate. Here’s one story that our class has enjoyed: The Library Lion
